He was a Russian chemist and inventor and is credited as being the creator of the first version of the periodic table of elements and, unlike other contributors to the table, Mendeleev is thought to have predicted the properties of elements yet to be discovered.

Second Life

1. Yerry Diesel (Kevin Mohan) is a senior at the University of Illinois, Chicago. He’s a biochemistry student and is in the pre-med program at the university. He has been accepted to the Boston University School of Medicine for fall 2010. He said he’s on Second Life to broaden his professional network.

2. Ary Kyrie (Jennifer Pierre) is an employee at Lockheed Martin. She went to University of Washington for her undergraduate degree in Chemistry. She did her graduate degree at University of Rochester in Chemical Engineering. She said she’s on Second Life to network with her peers.

3. Marvelous Northman (Allison McKenzie) is doing a non-clinical fellowship in Bioinformatics at Stanford University. She finished medical school at Yeshiva University. She did her undergraduate degree in Chemistry at NYU. She hopes to integrate her background in Chemistry with her current Bioinformatics program.

4. Elliot Riller (James Gibson) currently works at Merck. He got his undergraduate degree in Biology and Chemistry three years ago. He’s planning to go back to school to do his PhD in infectious diseases in order to go work with UNICEF in a third world country.

5. Quentin Jetcity (Carlos Rodriguez) is a Chemistry major. He wasn’t willing to tell me what school he goes to. He said it’s on the West Coast and he’s changing his major to Chemical Engineering because he likes the aspect of combining the aspects that he learned so far and applying it in Engineering.

6. Khloe Primswitch (Bilen Nahal) works for a chemical packaging company that is contracted by the US government and is currently stationed in Peru. She did her undergraduate degree at Florida State in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Chemistry.
